Joyce is a strategic communications consultant with over twenty years of executive-level experience. She has specialized expertise in fundraising, sales, marketing, public relations, leadership development and special events. Joyce has also served as a volunteer in a leadership capacity on various nonprofit initiatives.
Joyce has a B.S. from East Carolina University and is a visiting lecturer for the Institute of the Public Trust.
Grace is a marketing and communications consultant with a vested interest in non-profit organizations, issues-based campaigns and start-up companies. She is a graduate of N.C. State University and has worked in many marketing roles including G&S Communications, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development and various start-ups. In her free time, Grace visits Waynesville, her mountain home-base, and also frequents the Raleigh Rescue Mission to sing for the residents.
The Connect NC Bond, the first statewide bond since 2000, was approved by nearly 75% of North Carolina voters. Kohn Associates secured $2.5 million in support of the Bond and managed key relationships across N.C. to ensure the Bond’s success. Through the collaboration of statewide partnerships and community leadership, the bond allocated $3.1 billion in construction spending for the UNC system, community colleges, parks, water and sewer infrastructure and the N.C. Zoo.
The North Carolina Aquarium Society’s Scholars Program, initiated in 2017, enhances primary education with a focus on Title 1 schools throughout North Carolina. Title 1 classes are awarded grants which afford a visit to one of the state’s three sites or an outreach/education program delivered to the classroom by one of the Aquarium’s many talented educators. The first Title 1 classrooms will benefit from the program across North Carolina in the Spring of 2018.
Kohn Associates and Eckel & Vaughn partnered to create The Sunday Supper in November 2016 to assist flood relief efforts from the damage of Hurricane Matthew in Eastern North Carolina,. Over 1,000 people gathered on Fayetteville St. in downtown Raleigh to share a meal together. Kohn Associates led the fundraising and event management efforts, presenting $189,000 to affected communities. The two firms were recognized with a Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America in 2016.
The VLC is a turn-key residential program designed to help at-risk 21st Century veterans. On October 27, 2017, VLC broke ground on its future facility that, once completed, will accommodate up to 150 beds for veteran residents. Kohn Associates played an integral role in the groundbreaking, and as a result, helped launch the VLC Five Star Leadership Campaign to achieve $4 million in funds to support the facility and its programs.
